I wish I could
Turn off sometimes,
But I make everyone so happy,
I think I'll keep going for a while!

Song Of The Fly In The House
Why am I in here?
Is this my place?
And why doesn't she want
To be with me?
Doesn't she love me?
I love her.
She must be a lovely person
To have such a lovely place.
Is this my place?
And why doesn't she want
To be with me?
Doesn't she love me?
I love her.
She must be a lovely person
To have such a lovely place.

Listen To Your Children, They Often Have Good Ideas
Tomorrow I am going to a picnic because my children told me to go. I believe I should listen to my children, because they often have good ideas.
Have you ever noticed how children sometimes teach you things, just like we teach them things? Just as a parent has responsibility to a child, so I think sometimes it is part of a child's mortal mission to teach some concept to their parents. I am a firm believer that each person comes to earth with a mortal mission they have been assigned. It seems that my children have come to earth partly to get me to go out and enjoy myself more, as I seem to be more of a homebody. After the picnic, they encouraged me to attend a dance, otherwise I wouldn't have gone.

Some Favourite Childhood Games Of Mine
Kiss-chase was one of my favourite childhood games at age 6. Our class played it in the school playground at breaktime, with the boys chasing after the girls for a kiss.
Desert Nomads was a favourite I used to play with my sister. We converted our bedroom into a desert campground with bedsheets turned into tents, we dressed the part with long robes and headdresses, and borrowed bowls from the kitchen to hold the make-believe food in.

Jerome And His Family Part 10
Jerome found a family
Just like you and me
He wanted to be with them
For eternity, so he
Married in the temple.
I'm very happy for him.
His wife's name is Nancy.
His daughter's name is Lauralee.
Perhaps you've seen them
One, two, three.
Just like you and me

Married in the temple.

Jerome Finds Out The Way To Get To Heaven Part 9
Dr. Tom cleared his throat.
"Would you like me to tell you how?"
Jerome nodded yes.
"Well, Jesus Christ provided a way
We could return home again.
That's why he was called the Messiah.
If we do everything we can
To be good and return home again,
His grace is sufficient."
"What kind of things do we need to do
To return home again?" asked Jerome.
"Our part is to have faith in Jesus Christ,
Repent of all our sins (that means be sorry
For what we've done wrong
And not do it again), be baptized
By someone holding the proper authority,
And receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
And little children who die before the age
Of eight, return home to live with God
Automatically, because they are don't
Know enough to sin. See?"

Jerome Ponders The Three Great Questions Part 8
"Where did I come from?
Why am I here?
And where am I going?"
Asked Jerome one day.
"I came from God.
I'm here to gain a body,
Gain experience and learn
How to make good choices,
Follow Jesus Christ,
And return home to live
With God again if I'm
A good boy. Oh, and I
Forgot one thing! I'm here
To get married, so I can have
A family of my own."
"Well done, my dear,"
Said Dr. Tom.
"Now all you have to do
Is find out how to return home
To live with God and find a wife,
And you're all set."
Why am I here?

Jerome Makes A Go Of Things And Then Some Part 7
Jerome put up a sign
At the corner of Alma and 41st
Advertising his business,
And rented a suite
At Dr. Tom's house,
Who was head of the
Spanish Department.
Jerome dodged motorbikes
On the sidewalk in his early days,
And had scraps to eat.
Now he lived with nice people
And dined on food he liked.
It had all worked out.
But just one thing -
Where was he going to go
After he died?

Jerome Makes A Go Of Things Part 6
"I can't let this happen to me
Again," said Jerome, he
Prayed for patience and the
Heavens opened and rain came down.
"That wasn't exactly what I meant,"
He said. "I'll get some paint
And be a great mural artist.
Then my art won't wash away."
He prayed for the money
And someone gave him a fiver
And said, "Buy yourself a meal."
Jerome told him his story
And how he needed the paints
And brushes and a job
As a mural artist and the man
Took him to the art store and
Bought him all he needed
And hired him to paint
Pictures on the wall of his
Living room. Jerome
Painted the Vancouver Harbour
With a skyscape, full of white
Fluffy clouds and angels.
"Thank you," said the man and paid
Jerome. Jerome went and opened
A bank account and hurrayed.
Jerome learned that God is good.

Jerome And The Mental Asylum Part 5
Everyone was very kind to him
In the mental asylum
But he wasn't too happy there
And he noticed
He had an astonishing
Feeling of despair
Until he found the art centre.
In the art centre
He made pictures
Using paints for the first time.
He taught his friends to pray,
For his grandmother,
Bless her heart,
Had taught him how.
After a few days
His caregivers said to him,
"You can go now - you're normal."
"Whooooooooooooooooooopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

Jerome And The Mental Asylum Part 4
Jerome was tapping with his chalk
On the sidewalk,
Making his drawings,
Whistling to himself
In a humble sort of way,
When two police officers
Came along and admired
His drawings and told him
That they hated to do it
But they had to take him in
To a mental asylum because
He was a street person.
"Oh," said Jerome,
Getting into an ambulance
With his chalks and his hat,
And wondering what
Would become of him.

U.B.C. And Jerome Part 3
For those of you
Who don't know
What S.F.U. and U.B.C. are,
U.B.C. stands for
University of British Columbia,
And S.F.U. stands for
Simon Fraser University.
Simon Fraser was a
Very honest explorer
Who was sent away
On an expedition
From the office of skullduggery
Where he worked. (They couldn't
Get away with their skullduggery
When he was around.)
He was also true to his wife,
Wasn't that nice?
I attended U.B.C. and found it
Most fruitful in making friends,
(And S.F.U. was too).
I was always wearing a different outfit.
Remember me?

Jerome Part 2 by Joanne Okano
There are kind students at S.F.U., too,
But these students were U.B.C. students.
They would hear Jerome whistle
In the stillness of the early morning
Tapping with his chalks on the sidewalk,
Like an English milkman whistling and
Clinking his bottles as he left them on the doorsteps
As he went on his rounds. Jerome went for walks
And people thought him strange because
They attended the gym for their exercise,
Not for a walk, but he wanted to be
Like the Spanish in summer and get his exercise
Strolling around town, seeing the sights
And the people who were everywhere,
In all their sizes, shapes and colours.
When he drew with the chalks
On the sidewalk, all his dreams
Washed away with the rain.
He passed a miserable night
On the street in a puddle
And then next morning woke up
To the new sun.

Jerome On The Streets And What He Did To Get Off Them by Joanne Okano
Jerome was a puppet,
A poor puppet boy
Who slept on the sidewalk
Of Vancouver with chalk
Drawings to earn his daily bread.
He said, "Students throw me crumbs and pennies
When I do many drawings
On the paving stones of the city,
Here at Alma and 41st
On the way to the university."
His mother and father,
Where were they, you ask?
They were sick and couldn't keep him
But they kept in touch with him daily
On the email in his head.
When they gave to the poor and needy
Those students were doing a service to God,
And Jerome was earning his living
The best he could.

Typing School
When the Stake President asked me how school was going, I replied that I was ten chapters behind the rest of the class and had lost my last three assignments.
But other than that, he said, everything is okay?
Yes, I replied, other than that everything is okay.
I failed typing school three times. (I wanted to type stories instead of the exercises in the book.) But I'm glad in hindsight that I took it, as it helped me type this blog, even though I can't type very fast. And I enjoy it.

Why The Missionaries Go Door To Door
Did you know that the missionaries who come to your door want to come in and teach you about the way to get to Heaven?
Hip Hip Hooray For The Spanish
Bravo for the Spanish. They may not be the richest nation on the earth, but they are the most patient.
Children Who by Joanne Okano
Children who have the wisdom to say "no"
Are put down in our society.
Many people tell them "no" is wrong,
But are they right?
(The people who tell them "no" is wrong, I mean.)
No, I don't think so.
Let's put them on a pedestal
And help them say the words to keep them
Out of danger.

Mental Asylum Life
When you go to a mental asylum, the one thing you must not do is dance. If you should leap up and do a jig, one of kind people overseeing you would immediately come to your side and give you some more medication to sedate you, saying something about you getting "worked up". Most people in mental asylums don't even brush their teeth, and it's no wonder with no dancing allowed. I'll bet with bands and dancing two nights a week, people would soon be brushing their teeth and rinsing with mouthwash, and would be out in days instead of years.
